The way back home
by Steven Clotzman

I went down this mighty river
but I never forgot you.
When you said, "son, it's now or never
to make this dream come true."
Now, it's been a year since I last saw you
and it's been raining all year long.
And I'm a long way from nowhere
with just these clothes upon my back
and I can't find the way back home.

The moon was bright and the stars were shining
the night we said goodbye.
And maybe you were right about the timing
but I still can't clear my mind.
And now I'm wishing I tried harder
'cause maybe by now you'd be my own.
But I'm a long way from nowhere
with just these clothes upon my back
and I can't find the way back home.

I went back to where I thought I'd found
you but you never left a trace.
I guess I lost track of all those sounds too,
but I swear I'll know your face.
And there were some words that I stopped saying,
something I should have let you know.
'Cause I'm a long way from nowhere
with just these clothes upon my back
and I can't find the way back home.
