Summer of '69
by Steven Clotzman

I took a little drive the other day
And ended up back where we used play
It’s the end of August; soon the kids are back in school
So, goodbye summer and my old friends
Who knows maybe someday we’ll meet a again

I moved through the years without a word
And stopped where I last left her at the curb
And she said don’t be sorry for things that we can’t change
Goodbye summer and my old friends
Who knows maybe someday we’ll meet a again

Now I can’t say I haven’t thought about what if
Even though I know that just a myth

So, life went on and without fail
I got that notice in the mail
Just like that I was off to Vietnam
Goodbye summer and my old friends
Who knows maybe someday we’ll meet a again

In a different world I might go knocking on her door
But anywhere I’ve been is now no more

I rode around in silence until dawn
Then put the oldies station on
They were playing song I loved from 1969
So, goodbye summer and my old friends
Who knows maybe someday we’ll meet a again

So, goodbye summer and my old friends
Who knows maybe someday we’ll meet a again
