She's not you
by Steven Clotzman

If I close my eyes we’re back where we started
But when I open them I’m still where I am
There’s a part of me that’s still so broken hearted
It’s like I’m forever damned
‘Cause there’s more than just a year now between us
And I don’t know why you’re showing up now
I admit it’d be tempting to again dream us
If I still knew how

But Mama said you love me anymore
And daddy said to find someone new
So I’m standing all dressed up at the altar
But she’s not you, she’s not you

There are moments that don’t need reliving
And things maybe no one should say
See, I got something that just can’t be forgiven
It’s due in the late May
And some say that she saw me coming
But people can say what they will
Some are just more prone to running
Than they are to standing still

And Mama said you love me anymore
And daddy said to find someone new
So I’m standing all dressed up at the altar
But she’s not you, she’s not you

I don’t know why it matters, there’s not much to tell
We were in the back seat, I was hurting like hell
I guess the gleam in her eyes was just the parking lot lights
Oh what things people say in the night!
Oh what things people say in the night!

I don’t know if it’s right what I’m doing
Or even know what happened last time
I just can’t bear the thought of more ruin
Even if it’s not mine
And if I close my eyes we’re back where we started
But when I open them I’m still where I am
There’s a part of me that’s still so broken hearted
Don’t you understand?

And Mama said you love me anymore
And daddy said to find someone new
So I’m standing all dressed up at the altar
But she’s not you, she’s not you

And Mama said you love me anymore
And daddy said to find someone new
And Mama said you love me anymore
And daddy said to find someone new
