Over me
by Steven Clotzman

We got kids despair, but the buzz in the air
Is that they’ve bottled the light of the moon.
‘Cause the Hollywood sign might be losing its shine
But it won't be down anytime soon
Look out over the city
Those lights aren’t glowing for free
And it’s buyer beware and along way from fair
But something’s coming over me.

The nights and the days seem to just drift away
And what’s left causes little alarm
Instead we all laugh, stay fixed on the path
Carry on like it does us no harm
But then who’s got the patience
To relive a life differently?
Besides, there’s so much to do or maybe it’s you
But something’s coming over me

I’ve been vocal and silent
And it don’t take much to see
That’s the latter’s more violent
In the way it makes you need to just be

Some call it strange how little has changed
While still there’s no order’s too tall
So they packaged all edge but so far from the ledge
That the fall has no meaning at all
I’ve never pitied the blind ones
Just the ones who won’t see
Now they’re ringing them bells mad as all hell
While something’s coming over me

I’ve been vocal and silent
And it don’t take much to see
That’s the latter’s more violent
In the way it makes you need to just be

I could say we’ve been had and it looks pretty bad
But whom do we know who’s surprised
‘Cause when people with dreams start to burst at the seams
The hunger is clear in their eyes
You’re not losing your splendor
But my bones sure do creak
And in spite of all warning, I rise up each morning
It's like something’s coming over me
