Max's Blues (Nobody loves you like I do)
by Steven Clotzman

I’ve been around all over town
Now look at the mess I’ve gotten into
You’re not well-bred and I’m underfed
But nobody loves you like I do

Through winter’s cold it’s not so bold
To bite off more than you can chew
But when I run it’s just for fun
Nobody loves you like I do

The truth be known a dog alone
Is like a foot without a shoe
And nobody loves you like I do

A blown kiss is hard to resist
Or when a tail really moves
But understand you’re not just a bird in the hand
Nobody loves you like I do

You want a stone and I want a bone
You’d trade in the old days for the new
But give me your all and I’ll come when called
Nobody loves you like I do

I’m so hell-bent to smell your scent
And leave you howling at the moon
Nobody loves you like I do

When nobody cares and nobody shares
And nobody seems to have a clue
I’ll take your frown, turn it around
Nobody loves you like I do

These streets are vast yet nothing lasts
It’s a fact from which I take my cue
Nobody loves you like I do
