Mama in the middle
by Steven Clotzman

Bobby got drunk, stayed out all night.
In the morning Papa starting yelling, "Boy, it ain't right."
Tempers started flaring and soon they’re on the ground
and Mama just trying to calm everybody down.
When somebody's mad, there's Mama in the middle,
when somebody's sad, there's Mama in the middle.
You can try all you want but you won't get the riddle
how it always seems to happen that Mama's in the middle.

Little sister Sue, she was having her troubles,
it seemed her boyfriend Willie, he was going at love double.
When Mama got the news, she wasted no time,
she took a hold of Willie, said "don't cheat that girl of mine."
When somebody's mad, there's Mama in the middle,
when somebody's sad, there's Mama in the middle.
You can try all you want but you won't get the riddle
how it always seems to happen that Mama's in the middle.

Now everybody know that your Mama, you don't taunt.
You just treat her with respect and do what she wants.
And if you got something you don't want no one to know about,
better keep it to yourself or your mama will find out.
When somebody's mad, there's Mama in the middle,
when somebody's sad, there's Mama in the middle.
You can try all you want but you won't get the riddle
how it always seems to happen that Mama's in the middle.
