The life of the party
by Steven Clotzman

She’s the life of the party
She’s the queen of the ball
If you see behind those eyes
You will find the thin disguise
She’s the queen of nothing much at all

I saw her just the other day
Followed by a crowd, oh so enthralled
They don’t think to question what she says
Standing with their backs against the wall
Doesn’t care for Doubting Toms
That’s not what makes a loving mom
She’s the queen of nothing much at all

Some say she belongs to yester year
Others see the future in her call
She’s so adept at speaking to their fears
They think she’s picked them up before they fall
She’s no modern suffragette
Or an old time sophisticate
She’s the queen of nothing much at all

She’s the answer to the prayers
Of anyone who’s cares to dare
To wonder why we can’t go back
To living life beyond the facts

She’s the life of the party
She’s the queen of the ball
Not so easily replaced
And more than just a pretty face
She’s the queen of nothing much at all

Living in a world of make-believe
She’s having a tea party with her dolls
They don’t see there’s little up her sleeve
They just hope she’ll heed the nation’s call
Inspires envy in the girls, oh yes!
And, in the boys? Well, you can guess
She’s the queen of nothing much at all

She’ll give you a little wink
Knowing only what she thinks
And only thinking what she knows
As she’s come, she also goes

She’s the life of the party
She’s the queen of the ball
Think she’s just some Antoinette?
Well friend, you ain’t seen nothing yet
She’s the queen of nothing much at all
She’s the queen of nothing much at all
She’s the queen of nothing much at all
She’s the life of the party
