Millie’s shoes

I was listening to the preacher when this girl caught my eye
I took her to a double feature but she left me high and dry
So I went to see my relations up in old Chicago town
When In the night saw the name in lights of the future Mrs. Brown

Millie got eyes that plunder
Millie got lips that woo
And nothing can steal the thunder
Of when you see Millie in those shoes

I slipped into the doorway just to catch a little glance
I said, “don’t look now, old Horace Brown but something’s dancing in your pants.”

Millie’s got legs that wander
Millie’s got hips that move
And you can’t even think beyond her
When you see Millie in those shoes

She said, “I know all your secrets because they’re always the same”
I said, “I only got a dollar and Brown’s not my real name”
And then she started laughing I said, “Someday you’ll be mine!”
And she said, “Sure, OK, but until that day, you’ll just have to get in line.”

Millie’s got dreams like lightening
Millie’s got songs that croon
Things are so good it’s frightening
When you see Millie in those shoes

Ain’t it strange how things can happen in ways you don’t expect
I won that girl over but it left my nerves a wreck
But the most awkward situation that I can really talk about
Was the month I spent in the County Jail when she wouldn’t bail me out

Millie’s got legs that wander
Millie’s got hips that really move
And you can’t even dream beyond her
When you see Millie in those shoes

The last time I saw Millie she was putting on the Ritz
She said “I’m sick of sitting home, Horace,” besides the TV’s on the fritz”
Now I’ve known a lot of women and I’ve bid a few adieu
But you never kissed a girl goodbye in nothing but her shoes

Millie got eyes that plunder
Millie got lips that woo
And nothing can steal the thunder
Of when you see Millie in those shoes

Millie’s got legs that wander
Millie’s got hips that move
And you can’t dream beyond her
When you see Millie in those shoes
