Long way from home

I don’t know if I am dreaming
But that girl looks like a girl I used to know
She’s not as tall or as beaming
But I can tell her attitude isn’t just for show
I’m a long way from home
I’m a long way from home

The afternoon’s when I first met her
She had her hair tied up with a fancy bow
Had me floating like a feather
Handled the cold like an Eskimo
She’s a long ways from home
She’s a long ways from home

As the road gets longer, it all more distant
And I do my best at all resistance
But my memory’s so goddamn insistent

Sometimes in the night when I should be sleeping
There are places where my mind just shouldn’t go
But that doesn’t mean I’m not keeping
My thoughts and dreams of my little Eskimo
I’m a long way from home
I’m a long way from home
